Clarity Is Self-Respect
Why leaders become stronger, calmer, and more effective when they stop apologizing for their limits
By Nikita Mercado
For a long time, I misunderstood clarity.
I thought being clear about my limits made me difficult, demanding, or “too much.”
So I softened my tone.
I over-explained.
I left space for people to interpret my silence as agreement.
I made myself easy to work with—even when it cost me peace, time, and energy.
But clarity is not harsh.
Clarity is not conflict.
Clarity is not selfish.
Clarity is self-respect.
And the moment you communicate your limits without apology is the moment you begin to teach people how to treat you.
