Human-First Systems: Why HMO Benefits Are Non-Negotiable for Offshore Teams

  When we built our people-first systems at ForceMultiply, one thing was absolutely non-negotiable:   providing HMO health benefits   to every single offshore team member. Recently, one of our team members in the Philippines sent me a message that stopped me in my tracks. His mother had fallen critically ill, and thanks to the HMO coverage we provided, he was able to rush her to a good hospital, get the care she needed, and be by her side without worrying about how he would afford it. His gratitude was overwhelming. But to me, this wasn’t an “extra.” It was the bare minimum. In many offshore staffing models, especially in traditional BPOs, health insurance is often considered “optional.” It’s left for employees to figure out themselves, or only offered after a long probation period. The Message I Got at 3:12 AM.

  3:12 AM. I got a Slack message from one of our outsourced team members: “Sorry for the delay — my province had a power outage, but I’ve pushed the update live now.” No complaint. No drama. Just ownership. That moment stuck with me. Global teams are built on a quiet kind of resilience. The kind you don’t always see in the metrics or dashboards. If you manage outsourced or remote talent, don’t forget: Behind every task is a person balancing their world with yours. Check in. Say thank you. Celebrate effort, not just output.
